Response to Pigliucci on Metaphysics and Interpretation of Data

Massimo Pigliucci was insistent that I answer a question on Twitter.  I didn’t answer on Twitter for two reasons: the answer is nuanced, requiring more than the limited number of characters permitted, and I think the response points to a major flaw in the question-asker, as a philosopher.  His question is one about metaphysics and its relation to how we view the world:
